Do Dramatic Natural Ingenues have the most unique beauty type?
All the essence blends have fascinating faces. But the DNI type has layers and layers and layers of uniqueness.
And, as we’ll explore soon, “layers and layers and layers” can also be a good formula for how to dress as a DNI.
Dramatic Natural Ingenue Faces
Dramatic Natural Ingenues have mesmerizing, regal beauty. Despite not having Classic, their combination of essences lends their faces a distinctive polish and prestige, emerging from the combination of aristocratic Dramatic, neat Ingenue, and confident Natural.
And as above DNIs Odette Annable, Mandy Moore, and Yancy Butler demonstrate, Dramatic Natural Ingenues can have a very recognizable type of look: striking Dramatic Natural bone structure paired with sweet, rounded Ingenue eyes and lips.
Not all DNIs will fit this pattern—some will have more angular Dramatic eyes or strong Natural noses. Part of the beauty of style analysis is that even if two people share all the same style essences, they may still look extremely different.
Like DNI fashion (explored more below), Dramatic Natural Ingenue faces play with strength and sweetness, edges and curves.

Dramatic Natural Ingenue Fashion
If there’s a mainstream aesthetic that captures the Natural Ingenue vibe, it’s probably “cottagecore”—a style that draws inspiration from vintage pieces and rural life.
Outfit—and very nature-based accessory—with cottagecore vibes.
Cottagecore emphasizes breathable fabrics, delicate floral prints, flowy dresses, puff sleeves, gentle colors, and practical accessories, like straw hats and woven baskets.
Sounds very Natural Ingenue, right? So if you’re a Dramatic Natural Ingenue, you can think of your style as Edgy Cottagecore.
One of the easiest ways to do Edgy Cottagecore: base your outfits primarily around Natural Ingenue fashion—which, as a bonus, tends to be pretty practical for real life—and then add unusual or avant-garde Dramatic pieces as layers, shoes, or accessories.
Sometimes hair is your best accessory—this Natural Ingenue romper doesn’t have Dramatic, but the sleek, straight, extra-long hair absolutely does.
While rompers often express a playful Gamine vibe, this one feels more casual (Natural) and sweet (Ingenue). The earth-tone color and overall loose fit, including de-emphasized waist, are extremely Natural, while the shorts have a cropped silhouette combined with some flow that works for Ingenue. The hem around waist-length is also a great example of Ingenue lace. Unlike Ethereal or Romantic lace, which tends to feel more formal and often features large, elaborate florals, Ingenue lace tends to feel more casual and to have smaller, more orderly shapes.
Another loose Natural romper with sweet Ingenue detail—this time a ton of dainty ruffles on the top, plus a tiny bow.
To add Dramatic, you could layer over a long, oversized, sleek Dramatic blazer, or wear severe pointed toe flats. In colder weather an option is to pair opaque dark legging with tall boots in the same shade—this creates the long, sleek line that Dramatic loves.
A lot about this dress is iconically Ingenue—puff sleeves, ruffles, small buttons. The belt in an earth tone gives the dress a fashionably rugged quality that adds Natural.
Again, layers or accessories could add a lot of Dramatic. Another option is large geometric earrings or necklaces.
Finally we do get some Dramatic in an actual outfit, thanks to the plunging V-neck.
But overall this is textbook Ingenue—ruffled short sleeves, fitted waist and flowy midi skirt, tiny buttons down the front.
The gingham print in a laidback blue and white color scheme works for Natural, too.
If you can’t decide whether to do Ingenue puff sleeves or Ingenue ruffle sleeves, you can do both. Jeans help keep it casual and cool.
To make sure your jeans are Natural rather than Gamine, keep the fit roomy rather than fitted (these jeans may actually be a little narrow to be Natural—see all about the best jeans for your essences here). Sneakers that look athletic but fairly simple—no flashy colors or patterns—are also generally good for Natural.
Give this outfit the edginess Dramatic needs by adding a long, sleek leather jacket.
What if you’re highly Dramatic?
If you’re a Dramatic Natural Ingenue with a lot more Dramatic and Natural than Ingenue, you’ll likely want to base your aesthetic primarily around Dramatic Natural fashion, which has an “avant-garde casual” aesthetic that combines laidback basics with unusual, angular pieces.
One of the easiest ways to create a Dramatic Natural look is to layer layers.
That’s actually not a typo. What I mean is that you can, for instance, layer a sharp-angled Dramatic coat over a Natural sweatshirt. Or throw a severe Dramatic blazer over a denim jacket, or an extra-long Dramatic jacket over a roomy Natural sweater.
You can also layer extra-long tops over even longer skirts, or long tunics over full-length jeans. You may be breaking some fashion rules as a Dramatic Natural Ingenue, but the avant-garde Dramatic essence knows that some of the coolest outfits come from ignoring traditional style advice.
If you have a lot more Dramatic and Ingenue than Natural, you can focus on sweet meets avant-garde Dramatic Ingenue style. Because Dramatic and Ingenue represent opposite aesthetics—edgy vs. sweet—it can sometimes be hard to find clothing items that contain high amounts of both.
The easiest solution? Pair highly Dramatic pieces with highly Ingenue ones, like a fitted top with an angular, unusual Dramatic necklines matched with an Ingenue circle skirt.
Are Dramatic Natural Ingenues rare?
DNI celebrities don’t seem as common as many other styles types.
Why? It’s definitely not because DNIs are unattractive. To the contrary, they often have many popular on-trend facial features (NOT that a face needs to have “trendy” features to be attractive!), including strong bone structure, turned-up button noses, and full brows.
My theory is that for whatever reason, it’s uncommon to see Natural and Ingenue (and to a lesser extent, Dramatic and Ingenue) in the same face, at least compared to other essence combinations.
For instance, so far I haven’t found anyone who’s a pure Natural Ingenue, and I’ve only found a handful of pure Dramatic Ingenues.
Popularity doesn’t determine beauty, so ultimately the popularity of DNIs has no bearing on their true attractiveness. But if you need more evidence that DNIs are considered attractive:
Harry Styles
Harry Styles’s wildly popular beauty embodies what people find appealing about DNI men and women.
Specifically, Harry Styles has very strong, chiseled bone structure. Dramatic and Natural fashion is characterized by elongated, straight lines (the difference being that Dramatic lines have sharp, angular edges, whereas Natural edges are blunted and sometimes have a very slight degree of curve, especially to the corners).
While Dramatic and Natural clothing is defined by (mostly) straight lines, people with the Dramatic and Natural style essences don’t always have literally straight shapes in their faces. This is because your harmonious fashion is the clothing that harmonizes with your face, rather than being literally the exact same as the shapes in your face.
With that said, if people have very strong amounts of Dramatic and Natural, sometimes you are able to trace literal straight, sharp, angular lines across the contours of their features. That’s what we see with Harry Styles:
Harry has extremely strong bone structure, likely with influence from both Dramatic and Natural. This gives his jawline a distinctly mature look, since of course adults tend to have much sharper, more defined bone structure than children.
But despite his chiseled, grown-up bone structure, Harry Styles also projects an evident youthfulness—we could even say sweetness. This comes from his Ingenue, which is likely present in his eyes, lips, and potentially nose: small rounded shapes that read as sweet, even “pretty.”
And that’s what’s so remarkable about Dramatic Natural Ingenues, and I’m guessing part of why Harry Styles has such widespread appeal: he can be highly appealing to people who prefer strong faces, and to those who prefer softer faces. He can even be appealing both to people who prefer extremely strong faces and to others who prefer extremely soft faces, because he’s rather extreme on both.
His strong bone structure also makes the sweetness of his rounded features stand out even more, and the softness of his rounded features make the hardness of his chiseled bone structure stand out even more:
Harry Styles manages to simultaneously embody two very different varieties of aesthetic preference.
The same can be said for other Dramatic Natural Ingenues—they blend sweetness and strength for versatile beauty.
Dramatic Natural Ingenues confused for Gamine
I’m guessing many people would type Harry Styles as Gamine, because youthful faces are often associated with Gamine, and because he’s known for his quirky aesthetic.
In my view, though, the sequins above—high on playful Gamine—really don’t harmonize with his face, and neither do other whimsical Gamine styles. He’s great in conventional Natural pieces and long, slightly messy Natural hair (see the first image of him in this post). He’s also flattered by avant-garde elements when they appear serious, like Dramatic suits and blazers with long, sleek lines and oversized lapels. But the short, sharp silhouettes characteristic of Gamine tend to feel costume-like on him—and he’s a performer, so that often seems to be what he’s going for.
Controversial DNI: Jessica Lowndes
In this photo of Jessica Lowndes with a smile, I think you can see strong hints of her demure Ingenue beauty. But honestly, while I type celebrities extremely carefully and always double-verify them, I used to question my typing of Jessica, feeling that she likely had either Romantic or Ethereal.
So I’ve retyped her several times now, and each time I don’t see her as harmonious in R or E fashion. I’ve solidified my view that she’s a DNI. But to the naked eye, she doesn’t always look that way to me.
As a related story, when I was searching for images of her that illustrate how she looks harmonious in Ingenue, and not as much in Romantic/Ethereal, I came across a photo of her in Ingenue curls that I found unflattering on her. I thought, you know what, maybe I did mistype her. But then I realized that in the photo, she is also wearing a deep, plunge-neck dress that has Romantic. When you cover the plunging Romantic neckline and just view her from chin up, suddenly the curls actually do look pretty harmonious with her face.
The unharmonious part of the photo wasn’t the Ingenue curls, it was the plunging Romantic neckline. But I didn’t recognize that at first.
Part of why it’s so hard to accurately analyze people’s style essences: in any given photo of a person, regardless of whether you feel their styling is flattering, it can be really hard to say exactly what about their styling is or isn’t flattering.
If you think a celebrity looks unharmonious in a given photo, how do you know for sure whether it’s the hair, makeup, or outfit (or a combination, or just specific components of their hair, makeup, and/or outfit)? For Jessica, I initially assumed that the unflattering aspect of her styling was her hair, probably because I don’t typically see her in ringlets, and because ringlets can be a tough style to pull off.
The takeaway: part of why style analysis is so hard is that even if you think someone appears overall flattered or not flattered in a certain type of styling, it can be difficult to tell exactly what about the styling provoked your reaction.
Why Dramatic Natural Ingenues look so unique
Dramatic Natural Ingenues can look unique for many reasons:
1) Imposing Dramatic and sweet Ingenue have utterly opposite vibes. A striking juxtaposition is created when these essences combine.
2) Style types that combine both Natural and Ingenue seem overall less common than many other types (and to a lesser extent, so do Dramatic Ingenue blends). Of note, as of early 2025, I haven’t yet found a single person I’d consider a pure Natural Ingenue type.
3) Finally, the Dramatic Natural type already has quite a unique look—this is the essence blend of many models, actresses, and athletes who are known for their powerful, standout faces.
Since the Dramatic Natural type already feels highly original, when you add Ingenue—an essence with very different shapes and vibes from either Dramatic or Natural—the result is extremely striking, special beauty.
