Romantic Natural Classic
“Elaborate Minimalist”
“Glam Natural Beauty”
Are you flattered by a natural beauty look or a high-maintenance one?
If you’re a Romantic Natural Classic, there’s a good chance the answer is “both.”
Romantic Natural Classics (RNCs) combine the most glam (Romantic) and the most casual (Natural) style essences. And since Classic can feel both high-maintenance and minimalist, RNCs have an extremely versatile aesthetic.
So RNCs can mesmerize both with their natural beauty—like how effortlessly amazing they look without make-up—and with their ability to pull off elaborate styling.

Romantic Natural Classic Fashion
If you’re a Romantic Natural Classic, you have a style that translates well into modernity, because modern fashion loves casual, understated Natural Classic minimalism.
So as an RNC, you can wear heavily Natural Classic pieces and put your own alluring spin on them:
A lacy spaghetti-strip camisole adds Romantic glamour to a Classic basic white button down and Natural jeans.
Be sure to look for relaxed-fit or wide-leg jeans rather than ultra-tight styles (Gamine) or flared leg (Ethereal). More on every essence’s best jeans here.
Romantic Natural Classic fashion can be extremely casual, like above, but it can also be extremely polished:
A Classic jacket combines with a ribbed knit (Natural) form-fitting (Romantic) dress for effortless polish.
Here the overall simplicity and timeless feel of the silhouette communicate Classic.
The neckline’s width adds Natural and the wrap style and ruching add Romantic.
Since Natural Classic fashion epitomizes simple, “basic” style, you want to be careful as an RNC about wearing silhouettes that feel too unusual and extreme:
Sometimes fashion that appears “basic” and “simple” can have essences besides Natural Classic, so you want to watch for that, too.
If you’re searching for Romantic Natural Classic prints, larger florals are a fantastic choice. They’re often highly Romantic or Natural or both, and a floral tends to be a conventional enough print where it won’t overwhelm the simplicity of your Classic.
For RNCs with a lot of Romantic, you can also do floral lace:
This is overall a nice look for Romantic Natural Classic Mel B. The one thing that isn’t ideal is her slicked back hair, which brings us to:
Romantic Natural Classic Makeup and Hair
As alluded to above, completely slicked-back hair tends to feel jarring on Romantic Natural Classic:
Romantic Natural Classic Kaia Gerber isn’t her most flattered by hair completely slicked back, or by a very high neck (Dramatic) turtleneck.
Here her makeup is fairly similar to the above, but the long waves are much more harmonious with her soft, laidback, and polished beauty.
Determining your best hair can also be helpful for distinguishing between Romantic Natural Classic and Romantic Dramatic Classic.
These types can be extremely hard to tell apart. For instance, supermodel Cindy Crawford is a Romantic Dramatic Classic, and her lookalike daughter Kaia Gerber (pictured above) is Romantic Natural Classic (she appears to have inherited her mom’s strongly Romantic beauty, her dad’s strongly Natural beauty, and Classic from both parents).
So how can you tell apart RNC and RDC? Romantic Dramatic Classics, especially if they have a lot of Dramatic, are great in hair slicked back totally off the face, whereas Romantic Natural Classics tend to look their best with some face-framing, even in updos.
Another method that can be helpful for distinguishing these types is to consider their most flattering makeup.
With Romantic Dramatic Classics, because they have avant-garde, edgy Dramatic, they often have the ability to keep piling makeup on and on and still have it look harmonious with their face. They can also often rock unusual makeup styles.
But since Romantic Natural Classics have the casual, uncomplicated feel of Natural, unconventional makeup tends to be very tricky for them to pull off.
Here’s RNC Adelaide Kane demonstrating how light makeup is gorgeous on RNC.
Again, this can be one way to distinguish RNC from related types, like Romantic Dramatic Classic.
Types with both Romantic and Dramatic will often look a bit “lost” when they’re not wearing a relatively high amount of makeup.
In contrast, Romantic Natural Classics tend to look a bit “lost” in extremely heavy, complicated, or inventive makeup.
Romantic Natural Classics tend to be stunning in polished, conventional, highly Classic makeup:
Isla Fisher is so captivating in this whole look, from the overall polished, conventional makeup to the full Romantic waves.
Isla Fisher and Amy Adams have been cited as uncanny lookalikes, but Amy is actually an Ethereal Natural Classic. This illustrates how Romantic and Ethereal are easily confused.
Here’s Isla in styling that incorporates Ethereal:
This styling isn’t awful, but it can’t compete with the ultra-harmonious hair and makeup she has above.
The makeup here is a little intense for RNC, but it has elements that do work for Romantic, including smokey shadow. What doesn’t work is the braid and the deliate blouse, which have a lot of Ethereal. (Plus the top appears to clash with her color season!)
While Amy Adams and Isla Fisher might look literally similar, Amy’s Ethereal vibe and Isla’s Romantic one mean that their best styles are very different.
Since the Romantic essence can handle a high amount of makeup, RNCs with a lot of Romantic do tend to be flattered by a very made up face. The key is to ensure that the makeup still feels polished, conventional, and ideally somewhat understated.
RNC Kaia Gerber. This is a lot of makeup, but it works because the makeup doesn’t exaggerate the sizes or shapes of her features, and it doesn’t feel avant-garde, unusual, or inventive. People might differ on whether they prefer Kaia in a more made up or natural look (the awesome thing about being an RNC is that you can typically pull off both), but this makeup doesn’t seem to overwhelm her.
What RNCs will want to avoid is makeup that really exaggerates the features of the face:
Megan Thee Stallion is gorgeous in anything, but this eyeliner is so extended—the wing appears about as long as her actual eye—that it feels too avant-garde for her beauty. Thick winged liner in general isn’t highly flattering to RNC, no matter how long the wing is.
Megan really shines with a more conventional, simpler look:
She is so beautiful here. Her eyes and lips are still emphasized, which flatters her Romantic—but overall this makeup feels more laidback and polished, so it doesn’t overwhelm her Natural and Classic. The sleek bob also has a lot of Classic, and the side-swept fringe, especially with a very deep side part, is great for Natural. And the body-con dress evokes Romantic sensuality plus Classic simplicity. Stunning.
Color Season Connection
To really shine as a Romantic Natural Classic (or as any type) you’ll also want to consider your color season.
Even if your hair, makeup, and outfit are perfect for your style type, if they clash with your style type, they’ll distract from your full beauty potential.
Which Color Season Best Embodies Romantic Natural Classic?
With the Romantic Dramatic Classic type, we talked about how if there’s a single season that most reflects the vibe of RDC, it’s Winter—because Romantic, Dramatic, and Classic are all flattered by either the intensity, seriousness, or formality of Winter colors.
But importantly, every single color season can be harmonious with every single style type. So even if you’re a Romantic Dramatic Classic who has, say, a Summer season, you can still choose colors from within your own palette that create an overall bold and formal (RDC) impression.
With Romantic Natural Classic, there isn’t as strong of a color season association, so any season can find some clear connection to this essence blend:
If you’re a Winter or Spring RNC, your inherent color palette will emphasize the boldness or passion of your Romantic essence.
If you’re a Summer RNC, your palette will naturally emphasize the understatement and sophistication of your Classic.
And if you’re an Autumn RNC, your palette will emphasize the laidback quality of your Natural.
But no matter your season, you can create a Romantic impression with color by wearing palette’s reds, purples, and deep pinks; a Classic impression with color by combining large amounts of your palette’s neutrals; or a Natural impression by combining colors like medium blues, greens, and browns to create an earth-tone effect.
Since RNC doesn’t have a single obvious color season association, your overall vibe can also look quite different from other RNCs depending on your season, which is very cool—it highlights the uniqueness of your beauty.
The Different Vibes of RNC
Even when not considering color season, Romantic Natural Classic is a highly versatile beauty type.
As an RNC, you have the ability to look great in an elaborate Romantic look (as long as your makeup doesn’t feel avant-garde or experimental) and in a much more minimal, understated Natural look.
You also have a wide variety of fashion options: many that are professional enough for the office (Classic), many casual enough for hanging out at home (Natural), and many glam enough for an exciting night out (Romantic).
Beauty Chameleon
Since you have such a versatile look as an RNC, you can use your outfit, makeup, and hair to emphasize different vibes of your face and dramatically change how you project yourself.
If there are times you want to come off as more approachable, or just feel like rocking a more Natural beauty look, you can do that. If you want to appear more serious or professional, you can emphasize Classic. And if you want to appear more overtly sensual, you can emphasize Romantic.
One of the coolest things about style analysis is that it gives you the tools to modify your vibe and outward impression in a way that doesn’t feel false or disingenuous but rather feels authentic to who you are.
Style analysis reveals the truth that no one has a completely static, monolithic visual identity. (Even if you only have a single essence, there are still a diversity of moods and vibes associated with every essence.)
Diversity and complexity are beautiful, and it’s beautiful to see that you can have so many different visual versions of yourself.
