Romantic Style Essence
If there’s a style essence that visually embodies passion and love, it would be Romantic.
To describe emotions, we use metaphors that reference phenomena with dramatically curving shapes, like waves or roller coasters. The more intense the emotion, the more intense the metaphorical curves.
Romantic faces symbolize intense, passionate emotions because they’re characterized by generous literal curves. If you let your eyes follow the shape of Romantic eyebrows, you may ride a visual roller coaster—starting at the bottom, rising to a considerable altitude, and then plummeting down the other side of the brow’s arch.
Is Romantic the sexiest style essence?
As the essence’s name suggests, Romantics tend to exude sex appeal, especially in a conventional sense (for example, with pouty lips and alluring eyes). They have a special, elaborate sort of beauty.
But all the style types possess sex appeal and beauty in unique ways, and no type can be deemed objectively most beautiful or sexy. Corroborating this, many faces widely considered to be extremely beautiful or sexy do not have the Romantic essence.
Romantic features are romantic because their curves personify passionate emotion. Further, Romantic features are often “heart-shaped,” with lush curves and narrowing tapers, which strengthens their association with love and other deep emotions.
Key Romantic characteristics
Features that tend to read as Romantic:
Moderate-sized or somewhat large foreheads with rounded hairlines
Somewhat thin, often arched and tapered brows
Large upturned eyes that are round, possibly circular, but become much narrower at the inner and outer corners
Short or medium-length upturned noses (e.g., nostrils are visible from straight on) with roundness, rather than sharpness, to the tip
Full upper and lower lips on a relatively small mouth (in extreme cases, lips may appear nearly as tall vertically as they are wide horizontally). Lips often appear pouty and 3D rather than flat
High, full rounded cheeks, soft rounded jaws, and small rounded chins
Romantic fashion
Romantics look harmonious in clothing that mirrors the shapes in their faces. They’re gorgeous in fashion with exaggerated curves— sweetheart necklines, large peplums, slit skirts, and details like ruffles and gathers. Fabrics that inherently contain curving shapes, such as lace, also harmonize well.
Because Romantic features are large and exaggerated, they often have a luxurious vibe, which can be complemented by luxurious elements, like rich fabrics such as velvet, blingy embellishments, and fashion with a glamorous aura.
Further, Romantic facial features tend to have a voluminous, three-dimensional quality, so Romantics are great in clothes with curving dimensionality. Ways to achieve this dimensionality include using shiny fabrics, such as silk and satin, or fluffy fabrics like faux fur.
Visual poetry
Poetic language is imprecise, circuitous, and often beautiful. A highly Romantic face is like a poem—the features aren’t sharply defined, but they exude a gorgeous poeticism and dreaminess. Romantic faces embody a passionate, elaborate kind of beauty, with embracing circles that mesmerize.
