But there’s also ways to make Ethereal Dramatic fashion more wearable for real life. Wearing very long, narrow pieces that feel at least somewhat dressy will often create an Ethereal Dramatic look:

Additionally, if someone has a ton of Dramatic and only a little Ethereal, they may not look very similar to someone who has a ton of Ethereal and only a little Dramatic.

So if we wanted to subdivide Ethereal Dramatics, the main subtypes could be:

1. Dominantly Dramatic with a smaller amount of Ethereal (like Jenny Shimizu and Elizabeth Gillies)

2. Dominantly Ethereal with a smaller amount of Dramatic (like Uma Thurman and Jessica Chastain)

3. More balanced with a roughly 50/50 split of each

Many people find they look most harmonious when they style themselves roughly based on the ratio of the essences in their face.

Ethereal Dramatic Uma Thurman’s luminous wide-set eyes and mystically elongated features fit perfectly in the futuristic movie Gattaca. Her face embodies the future.

Gattaca’s protagonist Ethan Hawke is a Dramatic Natural. In the sci-fi film, Uma plays a character conceived using genetic selection, whereas Ethan’s character was conceived naturally. Hawke’s essence blend reflects his identity as part of the future (Dramatic) as well as his natural conception (Natural). Importantly, neither facet of his identity is inherently superior, either visually or conceptually—while we can view potential future advances like genetic engineering as “progress”, these advances can also be viewed as harmful and dystopian.

(Uma Thurman and Ethan Hawke’s real life daughter, Maya Hawke, is an Ethereal Dramatic Natural. This makes sense, because people tend to inherit their parents’ style essences.)

Ethereal Dramatic Robert Pattinson in Twilight

Debates about Twilight’s cinematic merit aside, Ethereal Dramatic Robert Pattinson, just by virtue of his otherworldly face, makes a convincing vampire.

Costar Kristen Stewart also has dreamy Ethereal and could pass for having Dramatic, but I’ve typed her as Romantic Ethereal Gamine. Presumably Robert’s character was meant to look more otherworldly than Kristen’s.

After virtually draping Kristen, I was initially surprised that she lacks Dramatic. But after studying more photos of her, I realized that the Dramatic makeup she often wears doesn’t read as highly harmonious. I think her combination of otherworldly, elongated Ethereal and angular Gamine, plus passionate/intense Romantic, can mimic the vibe of Dramatic.

Ethereal Dramatic faces transport us to different worlds. With their otherworldly aura, they can symbolize hope in the future and in forces beyond ourselves.
